A summary of the project

this is a short summary of the project to go along with the photos for the book.

When my work on the Vanguard project began, i was not really sure what i wanted to do. i had many ideas for photos and sets of photos, but i found that i was not really passionate about any of them. thats when my project really took off. In class, we were doing self portraits. in the process of doing this class work, i quickly found that i enjoyed incorporating text into photos. i decided that i wanted to continue using this style throughout my project. I started out working just with self portraits. over the course of the project, i began to move away from portraits and started incorporating text into other photos. I am very happy with the work i have done over the course of the project

Beware Of Dog

This is a diptik i just put together, i kinda liked it, therefore i posted it. I thought it was ironic as there is a beware of dog sign, but yet the dog looks really cute and totally harmless.

Blame The Government

not really part of my proposal for the vanguard project, but i liked it so i uploaded it :P

an updated upload

i wasn't really happy with how the original version of this turned out. for some reason, it just looked off, so i started over and am much happier with this version. although it doesn't really connect to my proposal for the vanguard project, i figured id keep it up here.
The photo is called "Closer To The Heart". I got the idea for it when going through a folder and finding some old photos. this was done very simply with photoshop, using only the eraser tool.

Deborah Luster(One Big Self)

1] the photos are portraits of prisoners.
2] Luster used this as a way to deal with her mothers murder.
3] Both, they shows people in a way that they are not normally viewed and provide for a intereting photo.
4] some of the photos are disturbing because of the actual person.
5] i would have larger prints. some of the photos may be more powerful in color.
6] usually if i am having a bad day, taking photos usually improves it.

proposal

The current plan is to take photos of myself and friends in both everyday scenarios and interesting situations. hopefully the photos will turn out to be comical and fun as opposed to my normal photos which tend to be darker and more serious.
